Legal basis and regulatory processes for nuclear and radiation safety

The objective of this training module is to provide the trainees with an understanding of the nature of nuclear and radiation hazards, the philosophies and principles of safety and protection and how these are incorporated into laws and regulations that enable the nuclear regulatory process. The international, regional, and national dimensions of nuclear and radiation safety will also be presented. Trainees will gain knowledge and an understanding of how regulatory processes work in practise for all nuclear installation types and uses of ionising radiation and for all phases of installation or activity lifetime.
