Training description:

Job Academy Common Knowledge is a comprehensive 5-week induction course that equips new employees with the necessary knowledge and behaviors to work safely on a nuclear power plant. The course provides a basic understanding of how a nuclear reactor operates and the plant systems required.  The associated risks of nuclear generation are presented alongside the correct working control methods to ensure the new employees gain the correct nuclear and industrial safety cultures.

Job Academy Common Knowledge includes the following subjects:

  • PWR basic principles & system descriptions
  • Radiological risks
  • Fire prevention
  • Conventional risks
  • Human error prevention
  • Must know OPEX

Course information:

Pre-requisites: None

Target audience: All new employees on a nuclear power plant

Learning techniques:

  • Classroom theory sessions.
  • 3D visualizations and videos.
  • Site visits & tours.

Duration and place: 5 weeks at an EDF training center with site visits & tours

Max number of trainees per course: 28
